Experience
After college, I became an AmeriCorps volunteer in Florida where I taught Music and English at a middle school for high-need students. I put together a Word Study program for sixth through eighth graders to help them with their Grammar, Writing, and Vocabulary. I also helped some challenged students after school. After teaching there for 2 years, I moved back to the Midwest where I was the site director for a before-school and after-school project. It was my responsibility to plan recreational and educational events, as well as to assist the students with their homework. I also was a private tutor to a 7th grade student that year. My philosophy is that students can be successful once they see challenges more as opportunities than obstacles. I have a passion for helping students improve their Reading and Writing, as well as their Grammar, Vocabulary, and Study Skills. I attended the University of Notre Dame where I earned a bachelor's degree in Vocal Performance and English. I am available to tutor a number of different courses, including Elementary Math, Middle School Math, French, Essay Editing, Phonics, Literature, American History, AP Comparative Government and Politics, and many more. I can also assist with exam preparations for the PSAT, SAT, and GRE. When I'm not teaching, I like to read, write, sing, play the piano and ukulele, run, and play softball and tennis.
